Even if Anet gave everyone r12 emote +500 K + FOW armor they will still whining..it's human nature. They don't like to do anything challenging ever, they want everything cheap and easy..those who are the same people threatening Anet to leave GW and play WoW if they didn't change what they did..guess what we'll be happier when those whiners leave us to make GW better game to play.

Saying ''WTF Anet is doing ?!" or "this is crap expansion" or "this crappy expansion doesn't deserve 50$" from kids and people doesn't know basics of PCs to developers worked day and night to release of such great game like GWP/GWF...they don't deserve to read their posts or threads.

Let them read the reviews of respected sites like gamespot on games (even games with low scores) they don't say what whiners say in forums that developers sometimes rely their actions and updates on our posts.

I like constructive criticism that can make GW better..but what they are doing....sigh

These whiners remind me with friend ask me to lend him my quake 4 copy he returned it to me after 3 days because he couldn't kill giant spider even with rocket launcher on easy mode.He admitted to me that he sucks at playing games.

They don't know how to play then they have to accept the hard truth..GAMES WASN'T MEANT FOR YOU..go play offline game or continue with your life and give us a rest.

Well, I'm not sure what one would call a veteran, but I've been casual for over a year (late beta event ... god I loved those worms ...). Anyway, my opinion is that Factions is not a failure, but it is a dissapointment in some areas. Here's a quick good/bad list:

Good:
New Enemies: Enemies that attack with coordination, that send out patrols and that need to be handled carefully. I like a challenge. I like this.
New Scenery: The artwork and level design, from a purely aesthetic standpoint, is incredible.
New Armor: Very nice new armor at that, such as the Tempest armor for Elementalists, which finally makes me feel a little more safe in my fragile elementalist toon.
New Items: I'm all for the new items. Some of them inherently inspire new build designs, or enhance old ones ... Mes/War with a +5 nrg sword anyone?
New Quests: The new quests actually do meet most of the alternative ideas others have suggested: there are quests where you prevent invasion, quests where you defend others from assassination ... even a quest with a moral component (drink from the cup?). The only thing that I haven't seen yet are puzzle quests, but give it time and I'm sure they'll pop up.
New Classes: They're better than they first appear (I like ritualists in my party anyway ... assassins ... well ... they need some improvement, mechanically, but I have one and seem to be getting better at using it).

Bad:
Initialy poor mapping/pathing programming: This has mostly been fixed. Henchmen do, however, occassionally body block you.
Quest Bugs: Being fixed as we speak. Same in Ascalon of old. No biggie.
Lag/Disconnects/Server Stability: This is for all those 56ks out there ... lots of reports of lag and code=7 (I guess err=7 is no longer in vogue). This needs to be addressed.
Skills: Some classes got some real treats (Flesh Golem, Flourish, Life Sheath and that new elite heal all the monks are talking about ...) where as some got ... well ... almost squat (Double Dragon). There is a huge problem with class parity following Factions. There is no doubt now that warriors truly are the "strongest" on almost every scale that matters to them. The easiest way to determine class parity is to look at guildwiki and just see which green items people have reported so far. At all levels, warrior greens are reported. Few levels of elementalist, on the other hand, are mentioned at all. (PS the 100 armor was a bad idea. I don't care about the limitation, and no one who wears it will either). I actually plan to wait until all the skills are released before buying the third chapter, if at all, just to see if it would be worth it.
Story Plot: Ugly, ugly story resulting from a poorly drafted cosmology. Shiro's character is as interesting as a paper bag. Sephiroth, he is not. Why no envoy interference with Shiro's plans ... what the heck did Shiro drain from the Emporer and how does it turn a continent into stone? Who knows? I doubt the writers even know. Shiro just doesn't make any logical sense ... at least the Lich had the good sense to fulfill a bona fide ancient prophecy.

That's it. That's all I'm angry about. Everything else is good ol' GW. I just look forward to the patch by patch improvement process.

Just going by forum threads isn't a really good way to guage the games reception.
I am playing it I like some aspects alot. Shing Jea fixed all of the issues I had with presear, some of the new mesmer skills are amazing, im just dying to get my second copy so my earth ele can use factions skills, I like the new weapons and greens and armors and such. Doesnt mean there are not problems with it. I love Guild Wars, which is why I'm complaining about its flaws, which are serious, and not to be ignored.

That's silly. I'm both playing the game and here on the forums. It's not one or the other. All anyone can really be sure about, in terms of who is complaining and who isn't, is what they actually see on the forums. This argument that anyone who isn't complaining on forums is happy with the game is a fantasy. In the game, I've heard complaints about quest design, the blah city, all of the traps and hidden enemies, the locked gates, the faction grind, the poor henchie AI, just about everything that's been said here. Praise as well, but I've heard more criticism in game than praise.

I think they did a great job with the starter island. I wish they'd put as much care into what came after it.

And yeah, I'm saying what I don't like about the game in the hopes that they'll take it into consideration for chapter 3. The alternative is to keep quiet and not bother to buy another chapter.

Fact is, ingame or on forums, people who complain are a lot more vocal then people who are enjoying it.

Don't forget players get mostly Code=019 than Err=007 in Factions these days. The servers are unstable for the moment due of population in an area. I lag less in Prophecies since Factions came out (less people). But its a matter of time to make it stable and fix all.

True, but I was responding to the point that people who aren't complaining here are happily playing the game. Not according to all the grumbling I've heard when I've been out with PUGs.

Zorian, looking at your post the only thing good about Factions is that it has new things on it. And even then half of the things that are new seem to be either incredibly bugged, crap or unfairly done.

Obviously they'll sort some of it out eventually but by the sound of things, i think i'll just save my 30quid for a while.

Look it's real simple. If you people were expecting something completely revolutionary, then don't get Factions. Or if you're so deadset attached to Prophecies and don't like change then dont get Factions.

If you enjoyed Prophecies and want to continue the experience in a new environment with a few new tweaks here and there, then it's well worth it to get it. I know it sure was worth it for me. I'm actually having fun again playing GW.

I really want Arena Net to make a version of Guild Wars into a true MMORPG game. Just like WoW, D&D online, and etc. MMORPG games. Where absolute freedom, open end environment, massive landscape, development of your character has a more meaningful experience. I know that this would be a huge success if Arena Net made Guild Wars into a true MMORPG.

Not only this would make Guild Wars more fun and entertaining. It gives the player incentives to keep playing the game. Unlike right now with Guild Wars. After you have completed the PvE, may be you'll complete it again with your other characters or just hop over to PvP and that's about it with this game. Nothing else really to do and as some of you have seen and experienced, your friends end up giving Guild Wars the boot and moving to other games. Just simply because they get bored of Guild Wars. Nothing much to do after finishing the PvE content. Yeah, go on and do PvP for a while but how long is that going to keep you entertained? Until the next Guild Wars chapter?

See, I don't mind paying a monthly fee if Guild Wars becomes a true MMORPG. It could so much better with an open ended environment. Right now Guild Wars seems limited. Like I mentioned before, after finishing the PvE, that's about it. Why bother completed it again with different characters? What's the point? It's just the same thing over. Then there's the PvP. Yeah it's fun for a while but then it gets repetitive and boring. Another good thing about paying a monthly fee is that it will filter out some if not most of these annoying kiddies who plague Guild Wars with their whining and immature behavior we've come to know so well.

I know some of you out there when you see or hear "monthly fee" you snap and start whining and complaining. But it's a proven fact that you get so much more from an online game that requires a monthly fee. It makes the game much more rich in terms of more content and gameplay. I have a strong feeling that if Guild Wars becomes a true MMORPG. It would be commercially more successful than the current Guild Wars right now.

See, it wouldn't be a bad idea if there would be two versions of Guild Wars. The current limited MMO version and the open ended MMORPG version. Arena Net should open up another studio that focuses its attention on the development of a MMORPG version of Guild Wars while the other works on the development of the MMO version.

Just think about it. The idea of developing your character in depth. Your elementalist, mesmer, warrior, assassin, ritualist, monk, ranger or necromancer. Create your own persona for your character. Build relationships and etc. The true MMORPG experience in Guild Wars. This would be so much better than the current MMO Guild Wars.

But a MMORPG version of Guild Wars probably won't happen. As Arena Net has and still strongly believes in non-monthly fee online game. They want to be innovative and stick to this philosophy. And because of this, we'll continue to be treated to an MMO game where the PvE content is linear, PvP content repetitive, and the incentives to keep playing this game no where to be found. As some of you have seen, some people play Guild Wars for a while, you know for a few weeks, then move on. Only to come back, if they do at all, for the new chapter in Guild Wars and move on again after a few weeks of playing. Is this what you really want for a game? I sure don't.

So why are you playing at all then? Why would Anet make a WoW version of themselves when you could just go play WoW if you like that more...

As a prophesis beta tester and GW vet, I would like to say a few things.

Whenever a new game comes out, regardless of who made it or if its an expansion or stand alone, you are gonna have TONS of negative posts in the first month. Why? Well thats a mix of reasons. Some just like to complain bout everything, some wanted more than what the devs could fit into the game at launch, some identify previously unknown bugs and some are honestly disappointed. There is absolutely no way to satisfy everyone and strange as it may seem, its the negative comments that are the most vocal.

Factions for the most part has been enjoyable to me. While I do agree with critic reviews that it feels like it caters primarily to the veteran players, I am still enjoying the storyline.

My main disappointment was that to me, it seems like a good 90% of the Factions skills are just renamed Prophesis skills. I admit i was expecting more new common and elite skills out of a stand alone product. I do think we spend too much time in the slum areas but thats because I like the beautiful landscapes that the GW team creates in the lush areas.

I brought a friend of mine from Star Wars Galaxies to GW about a month before Factions release date was announced. He is a causual player and was bout a level 12 when Factions went live. Once he moved his Propheses character into Factions, he really began liking the game. He enjoyed not having to hunt down skill trainers to get the quests for common skills. He too noticed that a goodnumber of Factions skills were just renames of Prophesies skills but he enjoyed the Factions missions. We are only halfway through the slum area quests and havent reached the palace yet and his character development is coming along. I am a more agressive player and my little assasin is already max level. She got her first elite last night.

Overall, I do enjoy Factions but do wish there were more mission/quest only achievable elite skills available. I think that would give more meaning to doing missions past the palace other than to find out how the game ends. I do wish the Elite Missions were open to more than just a couple guilds...I paid for the content and because I am not in one of those elite guilds..I will never get to enjoy it.

And...I do also enjoy the attention my dune lizard Godzooki gets when I team up with players whom have never beento the desert in Prophesis. My favorite comment was one from Sunday night when a new player said "OMG where did you get that baby dragon?"
